TAA Compliance
What Is TAA Compliance?
TAA stands for the Trade Agreements Act, a U.S. law that establishes country-of-origin requirements for products purchased under certain federal government contracts. Generally, qualifying products must be made or substantially transformed in the United States or a designated country.
What Does “Substantially Transformed” Mean?
A product may contain components from several countries. Substantial transformation occurs when manufacturing creates a new and different product with a distinct name, character, or use. Simply packaging, labeling, or shipping a product from a qualifying country does not establish TAA compliance.
Why Does TAA Compliance Matter?
For government buyers, TAA compliance helps determine whether a product meets the sourcing requirements of a covered purchase. It concerns a product’s origin and manufacturing process; it is not a measure of quality or performance. TAA-compliant products can also be manufactured outside the United States in designated countries.
Choosing the Right Product
Compliance should be verified for the exact manufacturer part number and configuration being purchased. At TAAproducts.com, contact our team for help sourcing products and requesting manufacturer documentation relevant to your procurement requirements.
